About
Lubi Thomas is an experienced curator working across digital/new media arts and associated creative fields. She has developed and delivered extensively across exhibitions, projects, festivals, residencies, mentorship, and transdisciplinary programming. Lubi has built cultural policy models for several locations and developed site-based relationships with organisations LEGO Education, ARS Electronica, European Media Art Platform, The Royal Institution, Welcome Trust, and The Australia Council for the Arts.
Lubi has an extensive portfolio of exhibitions and projects in her area of curatorial interest, 'Art—Technology—Science—Society', that include national and international tours. For over two decades, she has worked with artists whose practice entwines the tools and research at this creative intersection to produce compelling, contemporary work that resonates across diverse communities. A signature of Lubi's curation style is her site-responsive, audience-centric approach to curation, programming, and presentation, whether in traditional galleries or non-traditional sites.
Lubi's master's thesis, 'Curating in Uncharted Territory,' proposes a methodology for sustainable cultural programming at sites displaying and engaging with experimental creative practice. Lubi is an independent curator, artist, and industry mentor and advisor. Lubi works and consults locally, nationally, and internationally across various cultural domains.
I acknowledge the Jinibara Peoples, the traditional custodians of the land on which I live, make art and curate, and pay my respects to all Elders - past and present.
